Police responded to a crash between a driver and a 17-year-old e-scooter rider in Coral Springs on Tuesday afternoon.

The teen riding the stand-up electric scooter was hit by a man driving a Nissan Sentra, according to officers. The teen was “not found to be in violation and sustained apparent minor injuries,” Coral Springs police said in a statement May 19.

His parents were on-scene, and he was transported for medical attention out of an abundance of caution.

The accident happened at around 12:10 p.m. near the intersection of North University Drive and West Atlantic Boulevard. The collision is the latest in a string of crashes with e-bikes, e-motorcycles and e-scooters, particularly involving juvenile riders.

Two adult riders died in less than three months in those types of crashes in Coral Springs: one man riding an e-moto, another riding an e-bike.
