Motorcyclist hospitalized in 2nd serious bike crash in 10 days in Coral Springs
A motorcyclist was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after reportedly running a red light in Coral Springs and colliding with another car.
The crash happened outside the Shoppes at Heron Lakes on Coral Ridge Drive near Westview Drive at around 9:15 a.m. on Sunday, June 28.
The motorcyclist was heading north on Coral Ridge Drive but didn’t stop for a red light, according to Coral Springs police. A Lexus heading east toward the shopping plaza had the green light and entered the intersection at the same time as the motorcycle.
The motorcyclist sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported in critical condition to North Broward Hospital. The crash shut down lanes for several hours from Westview Drive to NW 56th Drive.
The crash comes on the heels of another serious motorcycle accident in Coral Springs 10 days prior. In that instance, police say a 34-year-old motorcyclist ran a red light at the intersection of Coral Ridge Drive and Wiles Road, colliding with a vehicle turning left. He died at the scene.
The investigation into the latest crash is ongoing.
